This Little Girl Had the Best Princess-Themed Adoption Hearing
Adoptions are inherently happy stories, but this one is truly a fairytale ending.
Surrounded by princesses and wearing a tiara, 5-year-old Danielle was adopted by her foster family in a princess-themed adoption hearing in Grand Rapids, Michigan, according to ABC News. It all started when Kristina Grey, Danielle's caseworker from Samaritas foster care services, wanted to plan the perfect surprise for her.
"She simply asked a fellow caseworker named Taylor if she wouldn't mind dressing up as Cinderella, who is Danielle's favorite princess," Trina Kent, the family development specialist at Samaritas, told . When the office found out what Kristina was planning, several caseworkers wanted to get involved too. Nine princesses and one prince came to Danielle's adoption hearing. The judge dressed up as Snow White for the occasion too!
Danielle's mom, Sarah Koning, said Danielle was shocked when she saw the princesses arrive: "The look on her face was priceless."
The Konings have been fostering Danielle since 2014 and also adopted another girl, 1-year-old Neveah, the same day.
"It's obviously a very meaningful day, a joyous occasion," said Laura Mitchell, the executive director of Samaritas. "The hearing is definitely a celebration that the kids now have forever families.
